IGF-DES (1-3) Research Compound
Research Use Only
This product is intended for laboratory research purposes only. It is not intended for human or veterinary use, food, cosmetic, household, or agricultural applications. Not for human consumption.
Overview
IGF-DES (Des(1-3) IGF-1) is a truncated form of IGF-1 lacking the first three N-terminal amino acids. This modification eliminates the primary IGFBP binding domain, resulting in a peptide with significantly reduced binding protein affinity and enhanced local activity.
Mechanism of Action
IGF-DES acts through IGF-1 receptor activation:
- Full IGF-1R binding capacity
- Minimal IGFBP binding
- Enhanced local bioavailability
- Shorter half-life (localized action)
- Potent receptor activation
Comparison with IGF-1 Variants
| Variant | IGFBP Binding | Half-life | Potency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native IGF-1 | High | Short | Baseline |
| IGF-1 LR3 | Low | Extended | Enhanced |
| IGF-DES | Very Low | Very Short | High local |
Research Applications
- Localized growth factor studies
- Muscle-specific IGF research
- IGFBP interaction studies
- Comparative IGF pharmacology
