MT-1 (Melanotan 1) Research Compound
Research Use Only
This product is intended for laboratory research purposes only. It is not intended for human or veterinary use, food, cosmetic, household, or agricultural applications. Not for human consumption.
Overview
Melanotan 1 (MT-1, Afamelanotide) is a synthetic tridecapeptide analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It primarily activates the MC1R receptor on melanocytes, stimulating melanin production. MT-1 has received regulatory approval (Scenesse) in some regions for erythropoietic protoporphyria.
Mechanism of Action
MT-1 stimulates melanogenesis through:
- MC1R receptor selective activation
- cAMP pathway stimulation
- Tyrosinase enzyme activation
- Melanin synthesis increase
- Minimal effects on other MCRs
