Research Use Only
This product is intended for laboratory research purposes only. It is not intended for human or veterinary use, food, cosmetic, household, or agricultural applications. Not for human consumption.
Overview
Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) is a 28-amino acid neuropeptide belonging to the secretin/glucagon superfamily. Originally identified for its vasodilatory effects, VIP has since been recognized as a pleiotropic molecule with important roles in immune regulation, circadian rhythm, and neuroprotection.
Mechanism of Action
VIP acts through VPAC receptors:
- VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptor activation
- cAMP signaling pathway
- Anti-inflammatory effects
- Regulatory T cell induction
- Neuroprotective actions
Research Applications
- Neuroimmunology
- Autoimmune disease models
- Circadian rhythm studies
- Inflammatory bowel research
- Neuroprotection mechanisms
